💡 Tip: Paste the code into your CSS class. Ensure the parent element has a visible background or the effect won't be noticeable.

How CSS Glassmorphism Works?

Glassmorphism is a modern UI design trend featuring blurred backgrounds, semi-transparent layers, and subtle borders. The core technology relies on the CSS backdrop-filter: blur() property.

  • Semi-transparent Background: Using rgba() or hsla() to set opacity.
  • Background Blur: backdrop-filter: blur(10px) is the key; it blurs the area behind the element.
  • Subtle Border: A semi-transparent white border (1px solid rgba(255, 255, 255, 0.2)) enhances the glass texture and edge definition.

Common Use Cases

1. Login/Signup Panels

Placing a glassy login box over a vibrant background image instantly elevates the site's premium feel.

2. Dashboard Widgets

In dashboard designs, use Glassmorphism to distinguish different modules while maintaining hierarchy without the harshness of solid white cards.

3. Mobile UI Components

The iOS system heavily uses this effect (e.g., Control Center). Replicating this texture in Web Apps gives users a native-like experience.

4. Modals & Popups

As a background layer for modals, it obscures the content below without completely cutting off visual connection to the base layer.

FAQ

Why can't I see the blur effect?
The most common reason is a solid background color. backdrop-filter requires non-solid content (like images, gradients, or other elements) behind the element to show the blur. Blurring solid white looks the same as solid white.
How is browser compatibility?
Most modern browsers (Chrome 76+, Safari 9+, Edge, Firefox 103+) support it. Older browsers might need the -webkit- prefix, which this tool includes automatically.
How to set colorful glass?
Adjust the "Glass Color" in the generator, then lower the "Alpha". We generally recommend white or very light colors with low opacity (0.1-0.4) for a cleaner, more transparent look.
Does it affect performance?
backdrop-filter is more GPU-intensive than standard background colors. Overusing it on large areas or on low-end mobile devices can cause scroll lag. Use moderately.
How to make text clearer on glass?
Ensure sufficient contrast between the glass background color and text color. If the glass is very transparent, adding a slight text-shadow to the text or increasing the glass blur can help readability.
Can I do gradient borders?
Standard CSS border properties don't support gradients directly. Implementing gradient borders usually requires border-image or pseudo-element masking techniques, which is more complex than basic Glassmorphism.
Can I just copy HTML?
You just need a div and apply the generated CSS class to it. No special HTML structure is required.
What's the saturation setting for?
backdrop-filter: saturate(180%) makes colors behind the glass appear more vibrant. This is a common trick in Apple-style design to make the UI look more lively.
